The Real Super Heroes 5K - “Put A Freeze on Bullying”

Fair Oaks Recreation Center has joined forces with Cool Kids Committee, Inc. as Anti-Bully Awareness month is underway. In an effort to raise awareness that bullying is not acceptable, CKC, Inc. in partnership with Cobb County Parks has put on a 5K Run/Walk Race over the last three years to increase the awareness of bullying and how we can help. Cool Kids Committee, Inc. is a community-based 501©3 non-profit that serves as an extra layer of support for students in the community and focuses on improving self-esteem and self-confidence. CKC, Inc. reaches out to children and youth to empower them, especially those who have been victims of bullying, have learning challenges, or any other forms of social disabilities.

The '5k Put A Freeze on Bullying' was first held in 2016 at Cumberland Mall. In 2019, 'The Real Super Hero 5K - Put a Freeze on Bullying' was recently held at Noonday Creek Trail.

Delores Powell, the founder and executive director of Cool Kids Committee, Inc. had a vision and came to the facility director at Fair Oaks Recreation Center, Tiffani Ephrom, to collaborate and bring the Anti-Bullying Campaign to the Fair Oaks Recreation Center and the Fair Oaks community. Delores Powell and Tiffani Ephrom have partnered with Cobb PARKS, Fair Oaks Recreation Center and Cobb County Police Department. Through these amazing partnerships they have been able to bring many programs and events to the Fair Oaks community as well as branch out to some of the other recreation centers in Cobb. The Fair Oaks community has been supportive of Delores Powell and the amazing work she is doing. The goal is to bring more awareness to bullying and how it is not acceptable. We look forward to the 2020 'Put a Freeze on Bullying 5K Run/Walk' campaign and hope to see you there to help us take a stand on bullying.
