The new universal application for CPS high schools officially launched this morning, with a remarkable 3,000 submissions in the first few hours. Our team is excited to continue partnering with the district to ensure successful implementation.
This shift is critical to increasing access to high-quality public schools to every family in Chicago. Families in CPS have the choice of 172 high schools with nearly 300 program choices, but accessing those choices that are both high-quality and a good fit, with a decentralized application process, has been challenging, if not impossible.
The new process is a win for children and families, as the single application will better meet parent and student needs.
OUR WORK TO SUPPORT CHILDREN, FAMILIES, & THE DISTRICT
- Comprehensive one-on-one and group enrollment support to families, communities, and schools via our Kids First Chicago initiative.
- Work directly with the district in creating and distributing clearer and more effective information on school quality for parents and students as they prepare to apply to a range of school options.
- Host parent focus groups on the GoCPS application process. This effort via our Kids First Chicago field team members is designed to poll parents at each stage of the new enrollment process.
