Heroes Pub and Wine Crawl
Friday, October 26
A few of the super heroes in for the “Heroes" Pub and Wine Crawl
The Art Gallery participated in the inaugural First Responders Crawl on Friday night, October 26. The event is Morro Bay’s way of saying thank you to our local heroes. This grown-up Halloween scavenger hunt was designed to pay homage to first responders as "crawlers" were required to dress up like their favorite firefighter, law officer, EMT or Cal Trans worker while strolling Morro Bay and enjoying local wine, beer and culinary delights. A local winemaker or brew master were pouring libations at participating retail stores, restaurants and business outlets throughout Morro Bay, along with chefs and business owners. Each "crawler" received a passport with a map and list of participating businesses. A completely filled out passport offered a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a grand prize dinner with the Morro Bay Fire Department.
The Art Gallery hosted Chuck and Ananda, owners of Three Stacks and a Rock Brewery.
October Demo
Our October monthly meeting and demo featured Jeanne Miller demonstrating how to do French Dyed silk with the serti technique of resist. Jeanne had several silks on stretchers to demonstrate the drawing of the landscape and then the painting techniques to achieve her vivid colorful pictures. Everyone in attendance got a chance to try the dyes and use salt and sugar to see the different effect they made on the fabric; as well as drawing on the plain silk.
Jeanne Miller gave away a lovely desert landscape raffle prize which Nancy Johnson won.
The monthly meetings and demos are held every 2nd Monday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm in the activities room. November will feature Sherri Smith demonstrating pine needle basket weaving.
Our next board meeting is Tuesday, November 27th at 12:30pm.

Morro Bay Art Gallery building gets a facelift!
Before
After
Rogall Painting, Inc. is in the process of finishing up a remarkable paint job for the Art Gallery.
The Board of Directors for the Morro Bay Art Association unanimously voted to hire Rogall Painting, Inc. to clean and paint our building. Pat Newton, Board President worked very closely with our neighbor, Coalesce Bookstore, to ensure that work done on the Art Center building, would not adversely impact Coalesce's beautiful outdoor plants and garden with the use of harsh chemicals, or impede their business as usual. Coalesce Book store previously cut down a pine tree that was beginning to grow into the side of the art center building. In the process of cleaning and painting, Rogall discovered a tree root which was trying it's hardest to grow up through the boards into our building. The Board approved additional funding to remove the tree root and replace rotted boards.
As you can see, Rogall is doing a wonderful job in protecting and updating the look of our beautiful building!
